Week 1

Post 1 Where Are We?
If this question was asked to elementary students what do you think would be their answer? I asked my 2nd grade daughter this question where are we and her response was California. Which is true we do live in the state of California, then she began to say Ontario which is also true we do live in the city of Ontario.Myself answering this question i would answer it very similar to her we do live in Ontario California United States and that is what i know of. But where are we is one of the hardest questions to ever really find out the answer there can be so many answers to this question.

Many people say that universe was created in a big bang and that space did not exist before that. Since it created space itself it didn't occur just in one spot. They say that it happened everywhere but space itself expanded, it didn't expand into space that existed before. Do many people believe this also?

Post 2 Response Myth of Eternal Recurrence
I total agree with these ladies I could not imagine my life in repeat mode always making the same mistakes and doing the same thing could really get to someone. A routine is fine to have exspecially if you have a busy life and it helps you in your day to day list of things that need to be done. But usually people do not really do it in a same order they just know what has to be done and it gets done.

There are many people though that do the same thing everyday so many times in a row or a day and if they do not do it they might have a nervous break down.
I enjoy living my life different everyday so that i learn from mistakes that i have made and i decide not to make them again i could not bare to keep makig the same bad decisions you will not get anywhere in life doing that. I belive that change can make you a better person and help you have a better life.

Post 3 The Chandian Effect
When I heard about this effect i could not believe what i had read and seen from the youtube videos about people having visions of someone telling them what to do. I have never had someone come to me in a vision or anything like that so i was very interested in finding out more about this. I have discovered from the information on the presentations that there are two major factors overwhelming experiences and also the knowlegde of a person or a object as the center of the experience.
Many people could have an out of body experience and not even know it and has effected someone's life in a good way. It can be thought of as non realist in many people eyes they dont believe until it has happened to them. For some one to know when they are going to die amaze me to have that kind of feeling that of pain and all then he ends up being untouched by death. Things like this happen all the time around the world i believe but i never have seen a real case.
Post 4 The Wonder Tissue Of The Universe

When having headaches many people look to taking some sort of asprins to take the pain away some times the pain is so unbearable that people have to go to the doctor and have research done on what is causing the pain. I believe that the information in theis article is correct about having increasing pain increases the various drugs to reduce the pain.
When having different kinds of aspirins it is always best to take the aspirin that is right for the pain that you have. When stating that we are just three pounds of meat i think that our brain is more than that without it we wouldnt be able to do the everyday things in life. When sleeping your brain begins to have dreams your mind begins to wonder around you are never really aware of what is going on when you are asleep.
Post 5 Immorality of the soul

When coming across reading about Immorality of the soul i became very interested in finding more about it as i was reading. Finding out that the soul could lives on without suffering or any pain and that they can go to the kingdom of heaven. There are different religions that believe in immorality after a person has passed on to the after life which is life after death. There can be many different kinds of arguements on this subject it could be that people would think of it as evil just as the body has to deal with diseases and it is believe that the soul opens up. I personally dont think that the soul does open up even of a person has a disease or cancer what ever the case may be they will fight for survival and not give up. When my aunt had cancer and they told her that there was not high hopes for her making it through her kimo. She did not listen she did what ever it was that was needed even though it was painful and tiring she was not giving up on her life.

Now twenty-five years later she has not cancer and lives her life to the fullest and she always says if she would of gave up then she knows she would not be here today. Reincarnation is another subject that deals with the soul sleep comes after being awake and being awake comes after sleep. Just as death comes from life so must death return to life again. Those are some very strong opinions that people I think that people may come back as an animal or in another spirit anything is possible. Its like a life that has been reborn in a new body that may be human or an animal which ever the case may be.http://www.scandalon.co.uk/philosophy/plato_immortality_soul.htm

Post 6 Re: Grenade App
At first i heard the noise it was like a little ringing sound to my ears and then the second timei tried it i could not hear it the end. That was very strange to me I am not sure if its because my ears were already use to it or what it was.
Did any one else hear it???

Week 2

Post 1 Who or what is beating our hearts?
As I was watching an YouTube video on "coming to grips with uncertainty" there was a question who or what is beating our hearts? I began to stop and think about this question did i know the answer to it? Of what I have known since i was a little girl was that our heart was a muscle and that the heart would send out blood to all over the body. But was i correct is this what makes our heart beat?

I decided to do some research and was surprised to find out that some answers were Jesus and biochemistry we really do not know what it is. Many say that it is electricity that makes our heart beat because of the small electrical current generated by the the cardiac conduction system. Do we really know what makes our heart beat?? Just some information i found very interesting about the heart you never really think how many times it beats.According to the American Heart Association the heart beats an average of 100,000 times a day anywhere from 60 to 100 beats a minute.

Post 2 Re: Electric Surfing
When I think about this question what is matter? The answer that comes to mind is objects that take up space and also have mass is matter. Matter is everywhere around us in the air, next to us, and different kinds of matter. There are little tiny particles that make up matter. That is very facinating information that we discover on a daily basics and we will continue to learn as the years go on.
Post 3 Many Worlds
Is there many worlds?? The many worlds theory implies that all possible alternative histories and futures are as real as they come. They each represent an actual world or in other terms a universe. Each separate version of the universe contains a different outcome of that event.
No one can doubt that the many worlds theory exists but then again everyone is entitled to there own opionions.

Every time we sit down at our computers there is the possibility of entering a realm of infinte possibilities. Yet from which direction do we approach this reality is it from our perceptions of the world as we see it there are many different perspectives on this subject. This topic can be debatable to many scientist and also some one researching this information.

Post 4 Electricity
What is Electricity?? It is a form of energy that is a result from the existence of charged particles. Electricity helps everyone in this world without it we would not be able to have buildings for heating, lighting, or powering appliances. Weather it is a young child to an adult they use it a daily basics and will continue to for many years to come.

I remember when our power had went out at my house from 6:00am until 9:00pm I could not charge my phone, watch tv, there was no lights, could not use the computer. We were all outside siting down enjoying the nice breeze and started talking about how it was back in the old days. It made me realize how lucky we are to have electricity I could not image not having electricity. I myself could not live without my computer or my phone i would not know what i would be doing without them.

Post 5 Gravity
Gravity is a force that attracts a body toward the center of the earth it can also be towards any other physical body having mass. For instance when you jump up in the air gravity is what brings you back down to the ground. We know that gravity is causes two objects to draw to one another. When you bounce a ball it goes down to the ground up and then back down again.
Post 6 Positive and Negative Charges

There are two different kinds of electric charges positive and negative the objects that they charge experience and attract force. An electron is a basic particle it is the carrier of the negative charge which is known to have much more value related to force, the carrier of the positive charge is not a basic particle. No one really knows why these two attact to eachother it is a difficult question to brake down for many.

It is said to be that when a positive and a negative cancel eachother out it is neutral meaning it is the same. Basically they go together in anyway its put just like peanut butter and jelly, cookies and milk they belong by eachother side.

Week 3

Post 1 Aids in Africa
As I was watching this YouTube video about aids in Africa I seemed to be still shocked that this is still a big problem over there. I had thought that all these years Aids had not been a really big health problem anymore and I was very wrong. AS I began to do research on this I found out that the lack of Aids medication in Africa. In the next twenty years there is a chance that 80% of young adult deaths are among 25-45 from aids and HIV.

It is sad to believe that a child’s life can be affected before it is born, being born with aids can cause serious health issues for the child and the child may even die. It is very important to inform others of this startling information many people taking it lightly but it is a serious issue that is faced with every day.

Post 2 What happens when we die?
This is one of many questions that remain unanswered throughout the years of life. Do we really know what happens when we did and how could someone tell the experience if they are dead? From my own believes I think that when someone gets buried in the ground in a casket that there body decomposes into the ground. All that is left is the skeleton of the person and the rest is in Mother Nature.

When a person is cremated the ashes could either go into a earn and placed into a wall at the cemetery. If the person or the family has decided to take the ashes and let them go in some place that is always an option lake, ocean, mountains, cliffs, and etc. can be some places that the ashes and the spirit may be released.

Post 3 Origins of species
Charles Darwin believed that his theory was based on variation in organisms they are apparent both within domesticated species and within species throughout the natural world. There are many variations in colors, structures, organs, and physical traits that they can be indemnified by apart from one another. Darwin found it interesting to see how the animal adapted to their own environment and what they gathered to eat. In the world there are many different kinds of species they have variations in size, shape, and color of organisms.
A quote that I found Darwin’s his book on the origin of species it inspired me to be aware of scientist insight on things occuring in this world.. “Nor will this surprise anyone who reflects how ignorant we are on this head, even in regard to mankind, so incomparably better known than any other animal .This is an early insight into the scientist's mind, who clearly doesn't hesitate to descend man from his divine level, and bring him face to face with his condition”
Post 4 Shaun Ancestors
As I was reading the article about Shaun he was asked about his ancestors. Shaun became interested in finding out about his ancestors and when he did the research he had found out that they were from Ireland and Germany.

Seeing the fascination about ancestry intrigued me to do the same what if someone had ask me also about my ancestors what would I say? I first looked up my dad side and my last name finding out that it was from Italy and looked into my dad’s side of the family to find out they are Italian and Sicilian. Next was a little harder looking for my mom side since I do not have a lot of information on them but luckily I found other relatives of hers and found out they are from Mexico. So my ancestors are Mexican, Italian and Sicilian it’s so nice to finally know.

Post 5 Why do we ask why?
To ask this question to any person you may get the response that they wanted to know the answer or they are curious to see what information is provided. Do we really know why do we ask why? I am asking that questioned right now as I write this and I really have no clue for the reason to ask that question. I ask it when I want to know why a person is making a mistake or if there is something that needs to do done by me but I don’t know why I am supposed to do it then I will ask that question. But why ask why?

If you think back for a minute when you were a little kid you would ask that question all the time why is the sky blue? Why do I have to eat that? and etc. If you have a child, little sibling, cousin or any child you know then you know what I mean how they are always asking why. Their mind is like sponges they want to know everything just as we do.

Post 6 Re: What scares us most about death?
I do agree with you on this topic about death there are many things that can scare us about it. We really do not know what happens after we die we just go on what other people say and what we have grown up to believe. No one really knows if there is a heaven or hell or if we will go to one of them when we die. I just hope that when my time comes that it is a peaceful one and that where ever i go it is somewhere that i should belong at.

Some people think about death is something really scary because of what will happen to them. Also how they will die if it will be a painful death or maybe pass away in there sleep. We dont know what will happen we just have to wait til it is our time.

Week 4

Post 1 Tangled phone lines
There are a number of other thinkers or even scientists that perhaps believe our being is grounded in the physical. That there is no soul inside of us and that a very material based . Which may be true in some cases we have learned over the years to be more dependent on things we have. All the things we have now are nothing compare to what they had back then we are very fortunate with our phones, laptop, computers, ipads, mp3 players and etc.

Some interesting information that i found out about Ken Wilber that he wants us to still believe in fairy tales, even if dressed up in pseudo-scientific jargon.Richard Dawkins on the other hand wants us to finally grow up and admit what we have secretly thought for a long time." We were wrong about the gods and we were wrong about ourselves."

Post 2 Brain Burn
The first thing that came to my mind when I was watching this You Tube video is that people need to think before they react. If people acted without first thinking, death would be much more common.

This was a recent tragedy that some of my friends had to deal with on Monday July 16, 2012. A friend of mine brother was killed in a motorcycle accident just eight months after his other brother died in a car accident. He knew the cause of his brother death and still decided to continue on driving his motor cycle not really thinking of what could happen to him. Now there a mother that has to bury her second son within the year because some people do not pay attention to how they drive. Thinking before we act is very important in life your life can be taken away in a blink of an eye. The human consciousness allows for a person to play scenarios in their minds and possible outcomes without actually having to act. Sometimes we all do not use our brains and think before we react but is it really worth your life or someone else’s?? I think not.

Post 3 Interview with Patricia Churchland
In the interview with Mrs. Churchland she discusses that she believes how us humans only work on a cellular level. She explained that the further we research the brain the better understanding we can have on. This is true to find out more things we have to find out as much research as we can to determine how things go. This is how we understand the function of consciousness, but she has no facts on how our consciousness fits on a neurological level.

The most significant quote to me in the video said my Churchland was that “we mustn’t let our own failures of imagination tell us what must be the case in the universe.” The human understanding of the world is all we know to be true. The limits of the human brain are the limits of our understanding.

Post 4 Multiple Personalities
As I was reading the article on mutliple personalities i decided to look up systoms. I found out that the disorder in which a person suffering from mental disturbance undergoes different experiences. The girl or boy personality becomes dissociated into more than one personality.

A person that is suffering from multiple personality disorder undergoes change in personality in just a few seconds. The person acts as if they are a completely different person than he or she is. The patient imitates characteristic like they would act like someone else or maybe think that they are a totally different person. They may change their names, behavioral traits, of the person that he or she think they are is. People with this disorder, sometimes undergo change in personality where they have alters of different genders, sexual orientations, ages, or nationalities. All these things can happen to someone with mulitple personality but it can be tamed with medication and seeing a doctor regularly.

Post 5 Peace of meat
There are people that call the brain just a glorious piece of meat they seem to believe that it lacks certain significance. I considered the brain very important to me for studying and also remember important information. When a person suffers from an accident or anything that affects the brain and the function of it. A brain is something many of us take advantage of since we think of it as something that will always be there. In a blink of an eye it could all change and we could have no memory or thought going on in our brains.

To realize that when it actually happens to someone you know or maybe yourself it is too late to actually appreciate it. But eliminative materialist would argue that our consciousness is simply neurons in our brain just doing their job. We do not still know how our brains work but i am sure in time we will find out.

Post 6 what is consciousness physical?
There are philosophers that basically have no connection whatever between any mental phenomena and any physical phenomena. It says that mental phenomena and physical phenomena exist they can be independent of each other they do not have to be together. Mental phenomena have no effects on any physical events and physical events have no effect on any mental events.

There are other philosophers that believe the states have a great affect basically an influence of outcomes. With this comes consciousness that can become aware of information that others are unknown to channel. Our bodies are physically aware and conscious of what it receives and gives out. We do this through taste, sight, smell, hearing, and touch. Conscious we are used to these but in reality we take for granted what we are use to. If we were not able to do one of those we would really see how it is to not have them.

Week 5

Post 1 Codex Funeral
As I was reading the assignment on Codex Funeral what i got from it was that how books have died. Now a day’s hardly any one goes to the library and checks out books anymore like we use to. Especially for projects when research is needed for it there are other things that people can rely on now instead of books.

I see that now everyone buys iPads and Kindles they have replaced books. So many books are now available at your fingertips without having to step foot in a library or bookstore. This new technology is actually more helpful then going and trying to find a book that you need. All you would have to do with the iPad is you just look up the book or article you need and then purchase it and start reading it.

Post 2 The Perfect Coke
As I watched the video and also read David Lane's the perfect coke how David's mom was not a good cook and one of the happiest moment was being able to go out to eat on friday nights. I recall my father always making egg plant stuffed with ground beef something i could not stand eating. I believe that maybe he made it on purpose because he knew i did not like it and made me sit at the table until i finished it.
I too enjoyed Sundays going to out to eat to our favorite restaurant called Casa Sanchez. I was never really a child to drink soda i always wanted water but when we would go to eat and i would see everyone with their cups of soda. It made me want one too just seeing the foam and the ice cold soda made it tempting not to want one.

Post 3 Time Machine
As I began to watch the video on the time travel it was brought to my attention that building a machine is very difficult and time consuming for the most part. If it was not thought of in the past we would not have it now and be able to add to that technology. The film made think of the movie Back to the Future where they had the time machine that was a car and they were able to go back in time and see things that had happen.
If I was able to see the future I would love that to know how my life would turn out.

But then again, it might not be such a good idea to see my life if bad things were to occur. With having these things in mind I decided to look further into the information of the time machine. There was a time traveler that had finally worked on his own time machine at it too him into the future. That would be very fascinating to be able to travel in time and see things that others have never seen.

Post 4 Ray Kurzweil
As I was watching the You Tube video on Ray Kurzweil it had come to my attention that he expects the technology that we have right now to grow in about 20 years. The basically means that we will have thousands of times more than the technology then what we have now as he has experienced in the past.

With having these new technology advances in our lives it would seem to me like our daily routines that we have right now and chores will not be the same. We would not have to do as much as we do now basically we will become more lazy. Even with the new technology many people can became more obese with not having be able to do every day life.

Post 5 The Alan Turing Lecture
In the video on Alan Turing I was very astonished on how much Alan Turing contributed to our technology. I really did not have any idea of this information until it was presented to me in the film. It is great to see that he was continuing on contributing to the challenges of his own theories. He was not afraid of making mistakes or even other people judging his theories he continued on making them better.

There was the Bombe it was the name of an electro mechanical machine, developed during WWII by Alan Turing and Gordon Welchman. It was used to help breaking the German Enigma codes and was based on the so called bomba, an earlier machine developed by Polish mathematicians in 1938. There are decoded German codes that were secretly developed and extremely hard to crack. It only took a few weeks to crack the code, Alan Turing was truly a man of science and mathematics.

Post 6 Re: The Codex Funeral, Books are Dead
I agree with you saying that the hard books are easier to get your hands on when you need information fast on a project or a research paper. I remember when my daughter had to do a project on frogs my first thought was to go on line to find out as much information as we can.

Then it came to mind why don't we go to the library, i had forgotten that you can check out up to twentyfive books at a time for a week. That's what we decided to do instead of paying to get information on books on our kindle. It was a smart decision that i had make looking back now I still think that books are very helpful in everyday life.

Week 6

Post 1 Errol Flynn
I did not really understand the video at first when I had seen it I did not even know who Errol Flynn was. I was definitely going to need to find out who he was before I got a better understanding of him. Mr. Flynn had a reputation for womanizing is what I got out of the information on wikipedia.com.

His lifestyle caught up with him in 1942 when two underage girls accused him of statutory rape. It seemed to me that he always had to be around beautiful women and definitely expected that when he was casted to be in movies. He seemed to be a lady's man though he had three marriages, but kept going getting into trouble by being around the young girls. He would try and court the young girls and everyone knew about it that's what I don't get if they knew then they should of had him stay away from young women.

Post 2 crop circles
There are some people that are believers that believe crop circles are some sort of signal through communication to us. They range from simple circles in their earlier days to some that have complex designs of shapes and vary in size. Then there are skeptics argue that the idea is nonsensical since we have not figured out what the message is of a simple circle.

For myself i am not sure if I believe in crop circles I have yet to see one with my own eyes to actually say if I believe or not. I think when you see yourself it helps put perspectives on things in life. Until then I will leave it as unknown for I have not got the opporunity to see them and experience being around one.

Post 3 Zahir
From the understanding that I get Zahir stands for beings or things which have the terrible power to be unforgettable, and whose image eventually drives people mad. Basically from the out look on society the problem is that we believe having money will help solve our problems. Dont get me wrong when I have extra money in hand I do go a little over board with spending money since like my dad says you can not take money with you when you die. But, some people take advantage of the power they hold when having money for an example if someone has money or is rich and gets arrested. It is sure that they are either going to a little bit or time or none for the fact that they pay people of to take care of there problems.

I remember a young child hood memory from when my grandpa had past away, my aunt which in my dad sister had got the furniture from the house and she was not too happy. She believed that she should of got money left to her instead of the furniture. About a week passes after my grandpa funeral and we see her on the side of the freeway selling the items that were my grandpa's for money. Some people will do anything just to have some money and make themselves happy for a while. Because in reality money does not make everything better there will still be the problems you have.

Post 4 Voodoo Voodoo
As I read the story from David Lane about his trip to the beach with his friends attempting to body surf and began to start chanting the words “Voodoo, Voodoo and two more waves; you know we need them and we need them today.” A memory came back to me when I was in Elementary probably 5th or 6th grade. I remember going to the back of our field at school and there would be some girls chanting "light as a feather stiff as a board". I was kind of confused to what it was they were doing and also why did they not want the teachers to see.

After school I went home with this question on my mind and thinking maybe I should ask one of them the next day at school. From the distances i can hear the same chant again, then I go in my living room to find my family watching the movie Witch Craft. That was the chant from the movie that these young girls were trying to do to see if they could lift someone in the air. Many of the girls continued on with it trying to get other people to join them, but I was not interested I did not believe that could happen.

Post 5 Gumby Land
In the YouTube video on Gumby Land right away I see that we are told that Gumby has been the vision for spiritual love. Gumby was named spiritual love after being sprinkled by holy ash by a guru in India and goes on to be a symbol for spirituality. There were many scientists that wanted proof that Gumby is actually a symbol of spiritual love. Even though many people used Gumby as a use for meditation purposes everyone believe that he was truly connected with spiritual love.

I can recall somewhat of remembering seeing Gumby on TV when I was a young child I was born in the mid 80's so my memory of then is not as good as I wish it would be. But I remember my older brother begging my father to be Gumby one year for Halloween and me thinking whats the big deal about Gumby he just on TV. Now later in life I see the reason why so many people liked him.

PostRe: Flame On
I agree some men are very afraid also being around another guy that likes the same gender because they think that others will put them in the same category as them. Which may be the case sometimes people judge others without knowing them. If you see a group of guys that look femine automatically people with think of them as gay and try to not have any contact with them. I myself have no problem having family or friends that like the same gender i would never be embarrassed of them all i care is that they are happy.

I do have some guy friends that are in relationships with the same sex and when we go out and about together everyone always looks at us and whispers things. They are not ashamed of how they are and make it known and either am I. But i do have other guy friends that are straight that refuse to be around them and I ask them why they are normal people. I get the same answer because we do not want other people to judge us and think we are like them. Guys that shave, pluck eye brows, or care for how they look and take care of themselves should not be judged any different.

In the science defintion of matter is mass taking up space or occupying the volume where religion is mind and spirit. Maybe combinding some of these things together and looking at records from the past can help understand matter better.

flip video 2

Chandian Effect is basically is a person that did not know of another person or object being the center of the experience that is happening. Faqir Chand realized the visions through his experience in war after the soliders had told him how grateful they were for him saving their souls.

My personally belief is that people do not exceed there cranial limits. The reason that i think that we do not exceed our cranial limits is because we do not know what our cranial limits are.So how could we know what the limits are if there are none set. If our cranial limits are unknown it is impossible to say what is our cranial limits. I believe many people do not know what cranial limits are so they would not know how to really answer this question correctly as well as i do not. Throught the years of life many inventions were made and many people did not belief they would work and it turns out to be that many were wrong and there have been discoveries made in history.

There are different ways to answer this question many people could answer it saying united states or california or earth. But utlimately we really do not know where we are we could be anywhere in the universe. We basically go on what we hear growing up from our parents, teachers, mentors, and others. That is how we go about in life learning in the text books at school many people believe what is written since it has been written in the past. For me to answer this question i would just say a simple answer as i know that i live in Ontario California, not really think about where i really am the thought has never really occuried to my mind until now.

flip video 5

"What lessons can human beings learn by understanding that there are limits to how much we can ultimately know?"
Human beings live in a mystery even if they think that they dont we never know its unknowable. We dont know where we are or who or what is living us. Basically we live in not knowning, we go along with what ever may come our way. We can learn that we will never know everything there is not one person that does know everything there is always a question that can not be answered.

flip video 6

In 1980 it was believed that everything in the universe is made out of very small loops of matter. Much smaller than anything you can see in matter, simply its not philosphy or wishful thinking. The defintion of science from Feynman means one of three things or a mixture he states it can also be a special method of finding things out. As in using technology there can be ways of finding out percentages and other valiable information. He also refers to science as its own application the fact that as a consequence of science it has a power to do things on its own.

Illusion to magic meaning (not that) it basically tricks us into somethingthat is not there. Some decision are made not knowingly ten seconds in advance. Nothing arrives in on time rather everything arrives in time. Our brains were not designed to understand the universe as it is. Deception is worship by million in this world. Science is a consist method of doubting of what we think we know

flip video 8
What will happen after we die is waht many people are afraid of becuase we will never know what may occur. As we become closer to death there are questions that fill our heads and we wonder if we will find the answers. I could not image my heart stopping and then going on for a period of time. Its kind of like your cheating death for a few minutes.

The reason that a mobius strip is a metaphor is because an endless surface that is transformed into something. It changes from something that it is not when someone attempts to reorient the mobius strip. Consciousness is similar to a mobius strip because when one tries to reduce consciousness into parts whatever follows will be lost. Some things cannot be expressed with the languages we have created to communicate. This can be sign language to help communicate with others or even drawling a picture can help better understand something. From a first person narrative it is different from a third person narrative because first person narratives are in the perspective of the person speaking or narrating. Third person narratives are in the perspective of a person but they are not characters in the story. Basically i am the first person narrative and i am telling the story of how the women from titanic felt when the ship went down. Even though i am not really sure is to how she felt i am expressing what she had wrote.

Even though we can be tricked by computers i believe it just says how good technology has become over the years .We can be tricked by nature and the technology we have developed over the years of life. Technology has development mechanical people and hallo grams that are sometimes mistaken for real human being to many people. I have seen a mechanical people that has looked just like James Dean and I was speechless at first telling myself is that him. But as i became closer then i realized it could not of been him and i felt it and seen it was not a real person.

Basically the point of showing this film is that drinking coke is what alot of people drink when they eat with there food. There not a perfect coke that we can find and drink sometimes we may get one that taste different to us. Also that sometimes seeing the coke getting poured into a ice cold cup you may want to drink it instead of a can of coke. I remember being a young child and my father would make eggplant that was stuffed in ground beef. I hated the taste of it so much and i had informed my father that i did not like it but he insisted that i ate it even if i didn't like it. I was not able to get up off the table until i had eaten it all from my plate. Over the years i came up with a plan that i would put it in napkins and go back and forth to the restroom and flush it down the toilet. I know that w

An example of gumby land thinking could be recarnation which some people chose to be when they are no longer among this earth. Another example of gumby land thinking is spirtual healing which many people believe works. It is said to be a way that many people become better again with no understanding of how. This is usually expected to be done by a priest mostly since they have a connection with god. From my understanding Gumby Land thinking is simply the idea when a person creates a belief and many others believe in the same belief. Wolf gang paul's witticism gets avoiding because of the fact that it has not really got test on it. Any hypothesis or theory needs to get tested out to know for sure if it works or notas bad to waste food but i could not help it the taste was not good to me.

In the you tube video that I had watched over and over a quote from Errol Flynn "No contradiction has a place in human nature, it social values just as it has in mathematics. Contradiction is neither true or false.....It is". I still was not getting a good understanding of it, but I think what he ment was that a combination of ideas or even features of a situation which are opposed to one another. The argument could go either way some people can say it is deep insight or others may say it is an excuse. Myself personally I am not sure which i side with anyone can contradict someone with what they are doing with their life or even how they live. Contradicting someone you may not always get the right or wrong answer you are looking for.

There are people that believe in different things in this world and chants, prayers, and petitions are some of them. They want something to happen so bad that they think praying for someone or something will help them ease the pain they feel. As if someone relative was in the hospital on their death bed the family may begin to pray for them to stay with them on earth it can be some sort of comfort doing that. Chants may not always work for some people but there could be someone to get lucky enough for them to work.

6. What is Gumby Land Thinking?

What is Gumby Land Thinking you ask well it is basically the idea that a person makes up and many believe in this idea. This thinking was based on the popular TV show character that was called Gumby. There was also a claim from Gumby land thinking that it had to deal with what happen with Gumby land.  Art Clokey he had went to India when he was having a very hard time in his life of course he had took Gumby with him on his trip he could not just leave him.

As Mr. Clokey was on his trip he had met a spiritual guru that was named Sathya Sai Baba he met him and his life changed. When the guru seen Gumby he sprinkled him with holy ashes and said that at that point Gumby was the incarnation of spiritual love. After they had left India there was a shrine that was placed there for Gumby. There were people that believed he was not the incarnation of love for the fact that it was never tested out.

7. Explain littlewood's Law of miracles and how it can explain extraordinary phenomena

The Littlewood’s Law of Miracles is when someone has a theory of how many times they will be able to encounter a miracle in a short period of a time.  It can also be in a long period of time as in minutes or hours but usually it is not in long periods of time. When finding information on Littlewood it seems that he defines a miracle as an event of a special significant that occurs at a frequency of one in a million. Which really amazed me one in a million for a miracle to happen but as I see on TV it seems like miracles occur all the time. Then again that is TV and I was not there to see the miracle happen in real life to actually believe it myself.

There was also a fact that he assumed during the hours that a human is awake and know what is going on around them basically alert. A human will experience one even per second which is kind of hard to believe we experience things all the time. But it is possible since he says that humans are alert for eight hours per day. I wonder if there was a study on that because I know some people like myself that have insomnia and I basically am alert probably more hours than eight. I actually did some research on myself come to find out I am actually alert eleven hours or more since I have such a hard time sleeping. I think depending on the person they may be alert eight hours or more or even less. I can recall a time as a young child I remember going to the fair and trying to throw dimes into items to win them. I tried so hard and kept missing and they will land on the floor so I started saying land in land in and one finally landed in I was so happy.
8. What does the Mummy and the Wolfman archtypes represent in terms of Eastern and Western religions? Explain it via Eros and Thanatos.

Eastern religions like Buddhism believe that the soul is pure they do not believe the same views on death as western religions. They also have a strong belief that our physical body is what carries our mind. Also that in reincarnation it is the central belief which means to them that death is a release from the human body.
Death to them is like a new beginning of the next incarnation so Thanatos which is death are desired. This is actually very similar to the Wolfman which suffers from being half human and half beast. They also suffer from the thirst of blood anyways wanting to bite someone. It is known amongst the world that they go out and hunt when there is a full moon out to quench their thirst they need to feel to continue on with life and lusts for blood in every full moon.

Now in western religions they are different as in Christianity which they believe that the soul is sinful. In their minds life is supposed to be followed by God’s will and that each people and their body are real. In Western religions said that death is a continuing life in either heaven or in the hell which ever place the human goes to.This means that humans continue on living even when they are dead they do not start a new life just continue with theirs. Now this is similar to Mummy they were supposed to be able to avoid death by preserving their physical body which did not work out. Thanatos defeat Eros life via the body because the body was preserved but they life was no longer there. The Eros that was the Greek god of love but that was also known for sensing the love of wisdom. As in the desire to have eternal life and accepting when a person is no longer alive and they continue on with there life after they are dead.

9. What is celluar automata and why does Stephen Wolfram think that it represents a "new kind of science"? Be sure to detail your answer.
Stephen Wolfram had explained that nature follows a mathematical rule that is what he believed in. He always had to follow rules and the patterns of them the simplest rules can create complicated pattern. He liked to explain the use of mathematics by using a grid and cells which I think is great it helps people understand things better. I think it is actually much easier for someone to explain things in math with grids because sometimes things are hard to understand. In the video cellular automata Stephen Wolfram explains that a shape of a grid that has patterns of phenomenon it is calculated. The grid could be 1 dimensional 2 dimensional that also could be hexagonal shape using random numbers of dimensions.

Wolfram has been studying cellular automata for more than ten years and has been trying to make these rules into nature also. He had considered this to be this new kind of science because it is challenging the foundations of all modern science. Wolfram's "new kind of science" is the simple abtract rules like elementart computer programs. He also believed that the computational realities of the universe make science hard. But he argued that understanding the importance of them we can learn to use them in our own way.

10. Who was Alan Turing and how did he contribute to our potential understanding of artifical intelligence?

Alan Turing was born June 23, 1912 in Maida Vale, London, England, United Kingdom he died June 7, 1954 in Wilmslow, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom. Turing’s homosexuality resulted in a criminal prosecution in 1952, at that time homosexual were still illegal in the United Kingdom. He died from cyanide poisoning from cyanide poisoning which is when a living organism is exposed to a compound that produces cyanide ions when dissolved in water. Many people thought that it was a suicide but his mother did not believe that she thought it was an accident.

When he was alive he was an English mathematician and was a leader in Artificial Intelligence. This is the ability of digital computers or a machine to perform task which require human intelligence. He also had the Turing test which was a test of a machine’s ability to perform intelligent tasks. This test had been the standard for measuring artificial intelligence for the past fifty years. Not like when he was alive people rely mostly on computers now not like before. We have so much access to information just at a click on a button type something in and find out what it’s about.  This technology is much easier now than before I can say we have it much easier than compare if we lived in those years before us.

11. Why does Patricia Churchland champion neurophilosophy?

Patricia Churchland was the one that introduced the term Neurophilosophy she was a Canadian American philosopher. From my understanding neurophilosophy is between philosophy and neuroscience it makes sense though because of the name it basically combined together. Before all of this Churchland had become fed up with philosopher’s that attempted to develop a theory of the mind. She seems like a strong willed person that knows what she wants and when there a problem she speaks her mind. She had begun to grow more frustrated with people and suspected that human cognition was the understanding of the brain.

She had decided to continue on her education on neuroscience so that she can do more research on neuroscientific techniques. With this research she was able to find patterns of human brain activity and knowning how the brain works could let others know the process of cognition. There was a point that Mrs. Churchland had made two arguments the first she stated it is not simply one neuron, it is an interactive set of neurons that do it. The other argument was that she said I believe that there is still much to discover and that people need to open their minds to this research. With the second argument I totally agree because there are a lot more things we still need to discover over the years of life. Whether it is when I am still alive or in the future for my daughter and hopefully grandchildren maybe in the future.

12. Is Consciousness phyical? Explain with examples.

Before I answer if Consciousness is physical I first want to define what it is which is the state of being aware or objects or something within yourself. It can be defined as awareness or the ability to experience or to feel and the executive control system of the mind. From what I understand it is as if say you’re playing football and someone throws the football your way awareness is necessary to be able to catch it. If not then the person could get hurt or even the ball could go to the opposing team and could cause the game and your team to lose.

There are some philosophy writers of consciousness that were concerned to defend a point that is trying to get across and organize their material too. An example of the truth behind miracle was the Sai Baba miracle people came to find out that he was caught on film using magic tricks. There were people that witnessed him “accidentally” dropping tablets which he snapped that contained dried and burnt cow dung. With this meant that it was not a real miracle he made it all up just to make people think that it was really but in reality it was not. From what witnesses had said he carried vibhuti tablets in between the third and fourth fingers of his right hand and also had a spare tablet in his robe just in case he needed it.
13. Why does your professor argue in the codex funeral that books are dead?

My professor argued that the codex funeral hardcopy books are dead now. With this argument I definitely agree with my professor David lane that books are dead I have noticed that a lot lately. A lot of new technology has come about over the years like the iPad, kindle, and other kind of devices. There are some people that still depend on hardback copies of books rather than spending unnecessary amounts of money on electronically books. I remember as a young child I use to have a collection of books from Walt Disney but as I got older and needed more space I got rid of them. I think sometimes people think that having too many books can take up a lot of space in their room or house unless they have an office to store them.
There are times though that people will need to use books when they need to do a project or even to do research. Even though e-books help more with space they are sort of expensive to purchase them sometimes there are books that you can find online that are free which help a lot. I have found books to help me with my English 67 class the professor had made us look for a book on the topic he had given us. To prove that we actually went and looked for a book instead of looking it up on line this made us go to the library. I found myself in the library looking up all kinds of books, but if I was able to look it up online I would not waste my time. I could of got the project done quicker I think if I was able to look it up online I think it helps everyone.he basis

14. What is apophenia? Give an illustration of it

The term Apophenia is the spontaneous perception of connections and meaningfulness of unrelated phenomena is the definition that I had got on Wikipedia.com. Which in my understanding is the experience of seeing meaningful patterns or connections in random or meaningless data. It can be that these patterns we see are nonexistent also we may think that we see something but in reality there is nothing there. This was defined in 1958 by a man of the name Klaus Conrad it had come to represent how humans seek patterns in random nature in general. Conrad had focused on finding abnormal meanings or even random experiences by psychotic people.  This was described as a term from psychiatry and use for natural tendencies of human beings to find impersonal data.

An example of this is on 11-11-11 which was actually almost a year ago, people noticed the pattern of numerology and said that they were going to run wild on that day. Over a hundred years ago clocks had circular analog dials and the date was used as roman numerals. Humans have both love and fear for patterns in numbers especially the numbers 7, 11, 13, or even the 666. Which the 666 is known to everyone as evil I have never heard anyone say those are lucky number just bad ones. Just like the number 13 it represents to some people the day Friday the 13th which is to mean bad luck and also from scary movies it is protraded as bad. Many of the scary movies things happen on that day Jason is one of the well known movies his intentions are based on killing.

15. How does the Himalayan connection explain UFOs?

It has been said for many years that people have had seen UFO’s over the years and probably many years to come. These are sightings of unidentified flying object in the sky some sighting have also been landed in fields or other places. There are always reports of these experiences that are reported every year sometimes more than once. Even though there are never any evidence of these sightings or proof to explain these things happening. I have heard of many sightings in the sky but yet to see one for myself and am not sure if I will ever.
There was some mentioning of spiritual experience of a yoga master from India in the Himalayan Connection. The person that seen this was Faqir Chand he had a vision that guided him and some of the fellow soldiers to victory in battle. The visions helped them get through some tough times when they were in the middle of battle seeing there men die and get hurt. This is what Faqir Chand said “It was all unexpected and strange for me. I enquired of them, "Our Guru Maharaj is at Lahore. I am not your Guru. Why do you worship me?" They replied, "On the battle field, we were in danger. Death lurked in hand. You appeared before us and gave us correct directions. We were spared." I was wonder struck by this explanation. I had no knowledge of it at all. I, myself, being in trouble at that time, had not even remembered them. A mystery shrouded the whole thing, "who appeared inside them?"

16.What is Sam Harris dilemma? Do you think he is right or wrong

Sam Harris had said that the universe is whole and without contradiction. What may appear like a contradiction at one level of physics or biology is always resolved at higher vibrational energies or perhaps, as Miller points out, by "miracles." Which means that miracles understanding them and which would cause anyone seeking the knowledge of the world. The universe is whole and without contradiction it appears like a contradiction at one level of physics or biology will be resolved.
There are huge questions that arise about that which he does not even mention one is that are we to treat humans flourishing. I think that there are miracles in this world that can happen you just have to believe in them and they will happen. Listening to other people does not help the mind because they can make you believe other wise.

17. What was the most interesting film you watched this term?

The film that had caught my eye the most was the time machine film I thought it was very interesting. Just being able to go back in time to see history being made would be something that interests me very much. If there was anytime I could go back in time I would go to when my mother was a teenager which was in the 70’s and see how it was for them at that age. Maybe I would appreciate more what I have now because I can honestly say we are spoiled with what we have now and expect it.

Then again I would also want to go to the future and see my great great great grandchildren. I bet anything this world will be so much different and many things will have been changed. It would be great to see how education is also changed from now. If I was able to find someone or had a lot of money to pay someone to use the time machine I would definitely take in consideration.

18. What was the most interestin reading for you this term?

In week 6 I found the reading on the Exploring the physics of being a psychic suffer to be very interesting. David Lane’s story was very intriguing to me to see that it’s not just me that does chants sometimes. I think that if I was attempting and I say attempting since I do not know how to. I would probably being saying a chant also so that I could ride a wave myself I never had the ride a wave or be in the ocean. I have done a chant before as a young child when I had gone to go see shamu at Sea World. I remember yelling for shamu to jump up and splay us.

I continually said splash us, splash us I thought that we were not going to wet since we were sitting in one of the top benches. I turn to speak to my father for a second and before I knew It I seen shamu coming our way and splashed us all with his tail. After that had occurred I found myself sometimes doing chants in my head when I wanted things to happen.

19. What was the most unusual thing you learned this term?

The most unusual thing that I have learned from this semester was on flame on. I could not believe they said that homosexuality regarded as shameful by barbarians and by those who live under despotic governments just as philosophy is regarded as shameful by them. I believe that anyone is entitled to their own opinion about someone. But they should not put someone down about liking the same sex. I have friends that like the same sex and I would never treat them different or tell them something to hurt their feelings.

They have hearts just like anyone else I have a close guy friend and he as sweet as can be. Just because he likes males other people do not want to be around him because they think others will make fun of them. Even they might come to the conclusion that the other people that are associated with them are the same. It just suprises me how some people can be so cold hearted and treat another person so mean. It just shows me that this world may not be such a good place with all this negativity surrounding us. If people actually took the time to get to know the people that like the same sex they would realize that they are not bad people they simply just want to be accepted by other people.
