An example of gumby land thinking could be recarnation which some people chose to be when they are no longer among this earth. Another example of gumby land thinking is spirtual healing which many people believe works. It is said to be a way that many people become better again with no understanding of how. This is usually expected to be done by a priest mostly since they have a connection with god.
From my understanding Gumby Land thinking is simply the idea when a person creates a belief and many others believe in the same belief. Wolf gang paul's witticism gets avoiding because of the fact that it has not really got test on it. Any hypothesis or theory needs to get tested out to know for sure if it works or not.
